About The Artist
My name is Debra Smith Wills, and I live in southern New Mexico. I have been working in clay since 1992. Coming from a Cherokee background, I have always been involved with Indian Arts.
In 1993, I made my first Angels. In 1995 I started creating the line of Angels that is now known as Poozart Angels.
I had them copyrighted in 1996.
By the end of 1996, I had made & sold over 3000 of these Angels.
I do not use any molds. Each Angel is handmade, one of a kind. I use red high-fire clay. All colors are fired.
The gloss glazes are done in a second firing.
I am also a member of the Las Cruces Potters Guild. I join the other potters in a 2-day show every 1st weekend of December at the Brannigan Cultural Arts Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
My work has been in 30 shops around the state.
